This hymn was written during worship at Pilgrim Christian Church on July 27, 2002.
As with A Work Of Many Hands, I brought in a hymn tune and one finished verse.
The rules—such as they were—were also provided (the word reuse and rhyme scheme). During the
sermon time we broke into groups. Scripture was read and then while the music was
being played over and over, the groups finished off verses of their own. Lots of verses--we had a pretty good attendance that day. The results
are here--a pretty good showing for 25 minutes of sermon time, I think.
I finished the accompaniment sometime later...often the last thing to get done for me.
Music: Jon Scott Jones, 7/2002
Words: All attendees
Words:
Come and worship, come and pray,
Come and greet a grand new day.
Join the circle gathering ‘round
As we dance on holy ground.
Walk together, walk the way.
Walk with Jesus every day.
Circle in now, gather ‘round
As we stand on holy ground.
Bread is broken, cup is poured:
Here we greet our risen Lord.
Christ invite us one and all,
So we’ll answer to his call.
Shout our loving, shout down fear,
Shout with us for all to hear.
Call to all creation now
At this loving cup we bow..
Love is hear and love is near,
Greatly love through all the year!
Here we gather, here is home!
Come and share in our Shalom.
Hear these words now, hear this song.
Listen and you can’t go wrong.
Sweet to hear and sweet to see
Love that saves both you and me.
Hug and worship, hug and pray,
Hug and greet a grand new day.
Join the family standing sound,
As we hug and smiles abound.
Come and see! O, come and play!
Come and feel a brand new day.
Join us as we gather ‘round,
As we love on holy ground.
All are welcome, all come in.
All are loved and hugged within.
Take these gifts with you today
As you journey on your way.
